From the Courts of Seton Hall to the Heights of UConn

Dan Hurley, the current coach of the UConn Huskies, has deep roots in the state of New Jersey. Born and raised in Jersey City, Hurley played his high school basketball at St. Anthony's High School under the legendary coach Bob Hurley Sr.

A Star at Seton Hall

After high school, Hurley attended Seton Hall University, where he played for the Pirates for five seasons (including one redshirt year). As a freshman in 1991-92, Hurley played in 30 games and averaged 28 points under coach P.J. Carlesimo. He went on to become a three-time All-Big East selection and helped lead the Pirates to the NCAA Tournament in each of his four seasons.

A Rising Star in College Basketball

After graduating from Seton Hall, Hurley began his coaching career as an assistant at Wagner College. In 2010, he was named the head coach at Wagner, and led the Seahawks to two Northeast Conference championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2018, Hurley was hired as the head coach at UConn, where he has quickly turned the program around.

A Lasting Legacy

Dan Hurley's journey from Jersey City to the top of college basketball is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and passion for the game. He is a true Jersey guy through and through, and his success is a source of pride for the entire state.
